BE A WINNER!!!

I really enjoy Contests as a hobby and I try to enjoy my hobby almost everyday. With that kind of persistence I think most people can experience Good Luck in contests.  You won't win every contest you enter, but the more contests you enter, the more you will find you win. As in anything,  sometimes you are "on a roll" and sometimes you find yourself in a slow period.

One of the things that keeps me motivated during the slower times is my connection to other contesters. Hearing news about their great wins makes me want to enter often and look for new contests too.

One way to stay motivated is to join or form a contest group with other people who enjoy contests. If you know a few people interested in the hobby get together at a restaurant, bring forms or information to share and see where your new friendships take you! I belong to a contest group that has given me valuable information and lasting friendships and I urge you to do the same. Some of us even attended the first National Contest Convention in Toronto together this past September! All forms of networking and speaking about the hobby will do wonders to motivate you. You can share all sorts of information to make the hobby easier for everyone to participate in.

Another way to stay motivated is to watch movies featuring contesters such as "The Prize Winner of Defiant Ohio" or "The Secret". I always find reading, researching or talking about Contesting to be most motivating! Books you may wish to read to further your contesting hobby can be found at your local library or book store and include:

Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain,

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

or The Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale,  among many others out there.

Online there are lots of Contest resources. Do some searches and you will be amazed what you can come up with!

If you wish to find out more about the next upcoming Canadian Contest Convention, visit www.contestconvention.com.

You can also attend the US Sweepstakes Conventions that are held annually (This year's is in San Antonia Texas). These are very motivating events where you can glean all kinds of knowledge about the hobby. See: http://forums.4ols.com/showthread.php?s=f04cac634ccbb99810a1c67fab7a5350&t=568454 for details or goole 19th sweepstakes convention. (It fills up quickly in the US!)

I am happy to report an amazing year of wins for our own family. We had our largest win to date of a $10,000 prize which included a trip for 2 members of our family to Toronto plus a huge Barbeque and a party for 10 of our family members hosted by Ted Reader, the chef. My husband entered and won this prize which we will continue to enjoy for years to come. Other wins in our family included gift certificates of all kinds and amounts, $1000 cash, 2 cameras & a photo printer, 50,000 Aeroplan Miles, three iPods, two travel gift certificates, a trip to Hawaii worth $5,000, two high-end golf bags, a pair of Justin Timberlake concert tickets, kids toys & art supplies, movie passes galore and lots and lots of smaller prizes. Each year I am amazed by what great wins we have had over the year. I keep track of all our wins on a spreadsheet to help me remember how fortunate we are. I urge you to keep track of all wins, large and small to keep up your motivation in the "slow" times.

Another winner from Edmonton who recently wrote in tells me that she just won a big trip to New York City this month from the online contest, Share the Energy & Win. She has won the trip (choice of NY, Las Angeles or Las Vegas) plus 2 tours & $1000 cash. Also this year she tells me that she has won 7 sets of movie tickets, $200 in Boston Pizza g.c (yummy), many food prizes, cans of Maxwell House coffee, an Eton Radio from Energizer, val $175, stamps, a DVD, 2-- iPods, a fondue set & a bar set, val $129. Wow! That is quite a wonderful list! Thank you for sharing your great fortune.

I also received an email from a subscriber in Manitoba. “My recent wins are 42”Toshiba TV along with a DVD player from the Pop and Play Trivia contest (online), val $3000, 2 g.b. silver iPod from IGA & Tropicana-Quaker (mail-in), Bose iPod docking station from a mail-in liquor store contest, $600 from the YTV contest (online), & Year of a Million Dreams Disney Contest Mickey Mouse ears (priceless).  My grandson lost his ears from our trip to Disney and was thrilled when I won him a new pair!”  J. from MB.

We all really enjoy reading other's wins, so please let me know your wins so we can inspire others in their hobby!

Send us your wins and let me know if you wish to remain anonymous and I will just print your initials and your province.

Please help to keep us all dreaming and inspired by your stories!

(Sorry, I am able to only  feature the stories of subscribers.)
